Before the dinosaurs, in the Lower Permian, between 299 and 273 million years ago, other reptiles lived and left their fossil records. A very interesting case is the Tridentinosaurus antiquus, found in Stramaiolo (Trento). This lizard-like reptile is just over 20 cm long.
