Monumental staircase

The eye of the visitor is dazzled by a ‘wunderkammer’ staircase: at the foot, a decorated Nautilus shell and another Nautilus shell in the shape of a lampshade, from the Vallisneri collection; then, a physical and metaphorical ascent accompanied by the muses and by Apollo, to the wonder chamber and to the scientific museum awaiting on the floor above.
