Visitors are shown what geology brings to the world of art, typically through the production of mineral-based pigments, and the use of decorative stones in architecture. An immersive multimedia feature explores the use of minerals in art, taking in the classical and the contemporary. The final section looks at biominerals, i.e. minerals produced by living beings (human beings included). The section closes with a multimedia assessment of Anthropocenic activities, illustrating how the excessive use of mineral resources by humans is impacting on the planet.
