Exhibited in this room is a selection of objects from Japan collected by Prince Enrico di Borbone, Count of Bardi, who in the late 19th century (1887 – 1889) undertook a voyage round the world, in particular visiting South-East Asia, Indonesia, China and Japan, during which he collected more than 30,000 items. This extraordinary journey is described in a video, which also tells of the events that resulted in a part of his collection coming to the University of Padua.
