ticke<\/a>t to visit the Museum, the Botanical Garden and Palazzo del Bo at the weekend, which also grants entry to the university museums participating in the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/musei.unipd.it\/it\/cam-domenica-museo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Domenica al museo\u201d<\/a> initiative.<\/p>\n<p>For those who prefer to visit part of the pathway, it is also possible to purchase the &#8216;integrated 2-sites ticket&#8217;, choosing which of the 3 to visit.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-fullwidth 400;\">The Botanical Garden of the University of Padua, named a <\/span><b>UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is the oldest university botanical garden in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Laid out in <\/span><b>1545<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to allow the cultivation of medicinal plants for scientific and teaching purposes, its original location and singular architecture \u2014 a circle inscribing a square, with the figure divided into four quadrants by two perpendicular avenues \u2014 have remained unchanged ever since. All kinds of plants grow within the 16th century perimeter wall: medicinal, insectivorous, poisonous, succulent, aquatic and ornamental, as well as historic specimens like \u201cGoethe\u2019s Palm\u201d (1585).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <\/span><b>2014<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Botanical Garden was expanded with the addition of the <\/span><b>Biodiversity Garden<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, five large greenhouses characterized by high technology and ultra-low environmental impact, in which visitors can take a fascinating journey through the natural biomes of the planet \u2014 tropical, sub-humid, temperate and arid desert zones \u2014 and learn about the age-old relationship between plants and humans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The visitor experience has been further enhanced in <\/span><b>2023<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the opening of the <\/span><b>Botanical Museum<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a new exhibition facility packed with interactive content telling the story of the Garden, its plants and the people who collected them, and the long association between botany and medicine. On the first floor of the building, the <\/span><b>Historical herbarium<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the new <\/span><b>Vincenzo Pinali and Giovanni Marsili historical library of medicine and botany<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, open to scholars by appointment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Botanical Garden can also be visited with the integrated ticket &#8216;Padua City of 400;\">Headquarters of the University of Padua for almost five centuries, the Palazzo del Bo (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hospitium Bovis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) is one of the city\u2019s most iconic sites.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was here that <\/span><b>Galileo Galilei<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the father of modern science, taught between 1592 and 1610. It<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is also the birthplace of modern medicine, based on direct experience and observation: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 1595, on the initiative of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Girolamo Fabrici d\u2019Acquapendente<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><b>Anatomical Theatre<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was built, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the first instance in the world of a permanent structure created for the teaching of anatomy based on the dissection of corpses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among the most important parts of the Palazzo del Bo is the <\/span><b>Old Courtyard<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with a loggia featuring twin rows of columns, where three thousand coats of arms are displayed, some frescoed, others carved in stone.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the foot of the monumental Cornaro staircase is a statue dedicated to<\/span> <b>Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the world&#8217;s first woman university graduate (Padua, 1678)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Preserved in the <\/span><b>Hall of the Forty<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">so called because it houses the portraits of forty illustrious international students (including <\/span><b>Stefan B\u00e1thory<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Oliver Goldsmith<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>William Harvey<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), is the <\/span><b>Podium of Galileo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who lectured in the <\/span><b>Aula Magna<\/b><span style=\"font-weight:
